Along the coast on East Point, the small rock cliffs provide many opportunities for paintings. Their multitude of colours in sun and shade contrast with the turquoise blue sea. An added bonus is the shade provided by the many large trees throughout the reserve and, if I am lucky, a coolish breeze which makes the humidity much more bearable. This all makes for a very pleasant painting experience. Pastel on UART 400, 9 x 12”.A beautiful morning at East Point, a reserve in Darwin. Learnt a couple of unique aspects to painting plein air here - I am going to have to practice painting clouds ( lovely shapes and coLours as they build up on the horizon), and I need to remember the tides! Chose the site because of the water colour, only to find that, after concentrating on the sky for 15 mins or so, the tide had receded and the water was no more!!
